iNspire is the charity that accelerates ambitious charities ability to achieve their mission, so that our communities are more thriving, prosperous places. We connect resource, expertise and leadership from the business community, with great causes and passionate people in not-for-profit organisations: we know that, together, we can do good, faster.
We are honoured to welcome James Timpson OBE, CEO of Timpson, the UK’s largest shoe repairer, key cutter, engraver and watch maker, with other 820 shops throughout the UK.
In addition to the widespread business success, Timpson is renowned for its philanthropy. James’s maverick approach to recruitment has also enabled them to successfully forge relationships with prisons across the UK. Colleagues who have joined the Company via this avenue are part of the ‘Timpson Foundation’, which is an internal initiative offering help and support to the individuals concerned.
Having successfully set up the Foundation, James has gone on to help and encourage other companies to recruit from prisons and currently Chairs the Employers Forum For Reducing Reoffending. These are a group of likeminded employers who are prepared to offer a second chance to an ex-offender, who wants to grasp the opportunity of employment and changing their lives for the better.
James will speak to us about the way that philanthropy can go further than an abstract CSR strategy, and into the very heart of your business’ identity.
