Wyn is widely regarded for his pensions expertise and is the second former Clifford Chance lawyer to join gunnercooke’s pensions team, alongside current pensions partner Ginevra Gatrell.
Wyn is well known for his work in pensions, trust and employment law arenas, in particular in respect of the pensions implications of large corporate mergers, acquisitions and flotations. The Legal 500 describes him as a ‘leading individual’ who is ‘outstanding – a towering intellect coupled with pragmatism, empathy and common sense’. Wyn has vast experience in advising large corporates and pension scheme trustees across diverse sectors, including advising Amcor on the acquisition of international Alcan business from Rio Tinto and the acquisition of Northern Foods PLC by Boparan Holdings.
Prior to joining gunnercooke, Wyn was a partner at King & Wood Mallesons, whom he will continue to advise on a part-time consultancy basis whilst at gunnercooke. He is a keen writer and retained by Lexis Nexis as a subject expert, in addition to co-authoring one of the leading text books on TUPE: Law and Practice, which is now in its 4th edition. He also speaks regularly on webinars and at conferences on pensions-related and other matters.
With over 100 partners, gunnercooke is fast becoming one of the UK’s most prominent challenger law firms. The firm offers a unique proposition to clients; services delivered solely by senior, high calibre lawyers, through a fixed, certain cost model.
Speaking on his new role, Wyn commented; “the legal landscape is in the process of rapid evolution and I am delighted to join a firm that provides the opportunity to be at the forefront of this change – a 21st Century firm advising on the legal challenges of the 21st Century. I am delighted to join the gunnercooke team and in particular to work alongside Ginevra Gatrell on the firm’s pensions offering, which I believe will be very strong.”
gunnercooke’s CEO Beaumont said: “We are delighted that Wyn has chosen to join gunnercooke. He emphasises what gunnercooke is all about – a senior trusted advisor with a passion for client service. The fact that we have been able to attract him is testament to the growing strength of both our firm-wide and employment and pensions brand.”
Wyn will be a partner based in gunnercooke’s London office.
