Andrew prides himself upon being an excellent problem solver and true ‘trusted advisor’ – he never gives up on a client. There are many examples of this throughout his career, though he considers his greatest achievement was in 1992. A property company of a client was put into receivership by a leading bank. At that time the country was in recession and the banks were having a difficult time. The government was putting pressure on the banks to reduce their commercial property portfolio. Andrew took measures to correspond directly with the bank’s Chairman, advising him of the problems that his actions were causing.
A director was allocated to Andrew’s complaint and a long meeting took place. He was called back to a second meeting where he was interrogated by a number of senior directors of the bank, following which they agreed to withdraw the receivership. He was then able to refinance the borrowing. The client continued to be a client and is to this day.
