Testimonials

Plainly Clive loves the law and his enthusiasm for it is infectious and overt. He has a very positive and ‘can-do’ approach to every aspect of his case management. He is a pragmatist which invariably assures that the client’s interests are best served. I have been extremely impressed by his litigation techniques and his ability to separate the wheat from the chaff – in my opinion an important aspect of litigation where there can be a tendency to pursue red herrings that benefit the law firm but not the client.

Expertise

Clive celebrates 40 years this year as a shipping solicitor in the City of London advising on all aspects of the shipping industry from time and voyage charters to bills of lading, Marine insurance, letters of credit, sale and purchase contracts, new and second hand shipbuilding contracts and agency disputes. He lectures for Lloyd’s Maritime Academy and is an enthusiastic promoter of London arbitration and the Commercial Court.

He has expertise in commodity disputes, such as GAFTA, FOSFA and RSA, and lectures on damages for Lloyds Maritime Academy in relation to Time Charters. He sat on the Law Society’s Committee on the 1996 Arbitration Act.

Clive has many years’ experience of seize and search orders and freezing orders wherever there is a substantial risk that a debtor will hide his assets. He was instrumental in changing the law on the privilege against self-incrimination.
