October 15, 2026

gunnercooke has been named a finalist in the Law Firm of the Year category at the 2026 British Legal Awards, the second consecutive year the firm has made the shortlist.

Hosted by Law.com International, the awards celebrate the law firms, in-house teams, chambers and individuals moving the legal profession forward, with a focus on culture, client service, innovation and impact.

Highlights from the firm’s submission include:

  • Continued international expansion, with 17 offices worldwide, a growing presence in the US and DACH region.
  • Investment in technology, including firm-wide access to GenAI platform Legora.
  • A client-first approach, reflected in a client Net Promoter Score of 91.
  • A friendly, collaborative culture, reflected in a partner retention rate averaging 95.9% over the past four years.

The shortlisting adds to a strong record of industry recognition, including finalist places at the British Business Awards and the Modern Law Awards, and a Lifetime Achievement award for founder Darryl Cooke at the Manchester Legal Awards.

Darryl Cooke said: “Being shortlisted for Law Firm of the Year for a second year running is a real credit to everyone at gunnercooke. It reflects the hard work of our people and the trust our clients place in us, and shows you can grow globally without losing what makes a firm special: senior lawyers, transparent fees and a community people want to be part of.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 25 November at City Central at the HAC, London.
