Expertise

Joanne is an experienced and passionate employment lawyer who has specialised in employment law since her qualification in 2009.  She is considered a trusted adviser to companies of all sizes, and is experienced in advising owner-managed businesses, private equity-backed companies, listed organisations and well-known household brands on the full spectrum of employment law and workplace issues, helping them manage risk, resolve disputes and make confident decisions in complex employment situations.

Advising senior executives at all stages of their employment cycle is a further specialism and Joanne regularly assists senior executives on often high-profile, sensitive issues and negotiated exits. Aside from providing clear, commercial advice, she is both pragmatic and empathetic which clients find invaluable.

Joanne has extensive experience in Employment Tribunal litigation and is regularly instructed to advise on complex claims including discrimination claims and whistleblowing complaints.  She also advises on contractual disputes and the protection of business interests through restrictive covenants and confidential information provisions.

A particular interest of Joanne’s is pregnancy and maternity discrimination and family-friendly rights. She is passionate about helping employers navigate these often sensitive and high-risk issues, balancing legal compliance with practical and commercially realistic solutions that support both the needs of the business and its people.  Joanne also advises individuals who believe they have suffered pregnancy and maternity discrimination and has partnered with charities to support those requiring such advice.
