Patrick is a senior banking and finance lawyer with more than 25 years’ experience advising lenders, institutional investors, corporates and real estate-sector borrowers on complex debt finance transactions.

He helps clients structure, negotiate and complete finance arrangements across corporate and acquisition finance, real estate investment and development finance, asset-based lending, receivables finance, securitisation, refinancing, restructuring, enforcement and corporate reorganisations.

Patrick is particularly experienced in transactions involving complex security packages, intercreditor arrangements, cross-border elements, time-critical execution and coordination with multidisciplinary adviser teams.

In addition to mainstream lender and borrower-side finance work, Patrick has a strong track record advising charities, faith-based organisations, social enterprises, housing associations, care providers and other purpose-led organisations on funding, refinancing and governance-sensitive matters.

  • Advised the English subsidiary of an international technology group on debt facilities exceeding US$1bn.
  • Advised on the £172m restructuring of a mixed-use development loan, including complex security and intercreditor issues.
  • Advised on the £159m refinancing of a regional purpose-built student accommodation portfolio.
  • Advised on the £112m refinancing of a care-home portfolio across England and Scotland.
  • Advised HomeNow on a £65m funding line to support the planned delivery of more than 800 affordable rent-to-own homes.
  • Advised Goodwin Properties on the refinancing of five purpose-built student accommodation assets in Nottingham, Loughborough, Guildford, Colchester and Sheffield.
