Ryan is an experienced Real Estate lawyer. He has over 15 years’ experience assisting clients with the sale and purchase of estates, farms, country houses, forestry and sporting rights. Ryan regularly acts for both domestic and international clients who have property interests in Scotland. Ryan acts as a ‘trusted adviser’ to his clients, guiding them on Scottish legal issues in the rural sector. He was ranked as an ‘Up and Coming’ Partner by Chambers UK 2025.

Ryan also assists landowners on renewable transactions with experience in wind, solar, hydro and battery storage schemes.

Ryan specialises in agricultural law and regularly acts for landowners and tenants assisting them with Scottish agricultural holdings legislation. Ryan also assists other professionals providing agricultural law advice for their corporate and institutional clients. Ryan has experience acting in contentious and non-contentious agricultural law matters and has been involved in high profile cases in the Scottish Land Court and Court of Session.

Ryan owns his own farm in Perthshire giving him practical experience of issues faced by rural landowners.
