Dr Wolfgang Richter is a Finance lawyer and economist with deep expertise across the financial industry, specialising in FinTech, blockchain, cryptocurrencies and AI.
He has more than two decades of leadership experience at major international law firms in Germany. In 2020, he assumed the role of Founding and Managing Partner for the DACH region at gunnercooke, establishing the firm’s first international office. The firm now has a presence in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Tyrol, Vienna and Zurich.
Prior to joining gunnercooke, Wolfgang established the Berlin office of DWF, led the Finance practice of DLA Piper in Germany, and served as Head of the Global Financial Services Line at EY Law.
Wolfgang is an expert in digital transformation, with a particular focus on the use of AI. In regulatory matters, his work centres on European legal frameworks, including the crypto sector. He advises on structured finance transactions, M&A deals in the financial services industry, securitisations, real estate finance, non-performing loan transactions, equity and debt structuring, as well as supporting investors and financial institutions on product development and strategic issues.
