Mr. Taylor has been a solicitor in Scotland, specializing in Dispute Resolution and Avoidance since 2000.  In 2010, Ross launched his own solicitors’ practice.  He grew it from Start-Up to a strong market position in Construction Law within six years.  The business represented small to medium sized enterprises, professional team members and private self-builders.  Ross has taken that self-motivated spirit into Partnership with gunnercooke, enhancing the collective contribution with innovation, commerciality and an acute awareness of the client perspective.

Ross operates within the spectrum of dispute resolution mechanisms including Mediation, Expert Determination, Adjudication, Arbitration and Litigation.  Ross accepts appointments as Expert Determiner, Adjudicator and Arbitrator.

From his disputes experience, Ross also undertakes non-contentious construction work, assisting employers, contractors and design team members to negotiate their contractual and warranty terms, striving to place project risk where it can be best managed to achieve project success and to protect his client’s interests.

Ross also undertakes general commercial dispute resolution work in the Scottish Courts.

He is an Expert Determiner, Adjudicator and Arbitrator in Commercial and Construction disputes.

Experience Highlights

  • Leading in an Adjudication and Sheriff Court Action for damages of seven figures, in respect of the defective construction of a care home.
  • Acting for a commercial tenant, management of a dispute about the extent to which the tenant is complying with its lease obligations.
  • Acting for the tenant in a Court of Session Action about dilapidations.
  • Acting for a major housebuilder in fending off claims by purchasers that the roof of a block of flats is defective.
  • Advising the Housebuilding Team on recovery of ownership of land, which has fallen to the KLTR, including claims against previous solicitors in respect of the cause of that event.
  • Acting for a Landlord in a dilapidations claim in eth sheriff Court, against the director of a company under a personal guarantee.
  • Acting for a Contractor in a “smash and grab” Adjudication in which it successfully sought payment.
  • Pursuing a national housebuilder on behalf of private client purchasers in respect of defective construction of their new-build home.  A mediated settlement was successfully achieved.
