gunnercooke Successfully Registers ‘New Dawn Organisation’, Supporting Syrian Communities in the UK and Abroad

January 8, 2026

Dispute Resolution and Charity Partner Khaled Moyeed, successfully registered New Dawn Organisation, a newly established charity committed to preventing and relieving poverty amongst Syrian communities in Syria and the UK. The trustees originally started their project in Syria in 2012 and have been working tirelessly since the beginning of the Syrian crisis to alleviate suffering, bring students back to schools, support families unable to secure a dignified living, and sympathise with individuals afflicted with grief and loss. They registered an organisation in Turkey in October 2015 providing humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees.

Through its comprehensive range of services, New Dawn Organisation seeks to tackle the complex challenges faced by vulnerable communities affected by the Syrian crisis – from food insecurity and lack of access to education to inadequate shelter and healthcare. Its core mission is to provide items and services to individuals in need and to charities or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty. All services are designed to be evidence-based and practical, ensuring that interventions support vulnerable communities, particularly women and children, in a sustainable and dignified manner.

The programmes offered include food security and livelihoods initiatives designed to promote economic resilience amongst herders and strengthen local markets through direct cash aid, capacity development, and awareness-raising sessions; comprehensive nutrition activities focusing on improving nutrition, food security, and community resilience; education programmes reintegrating children and students into school across multiple districts in northwest Syria; and shelter and health projects providing critical support including family tents, Non-Food Item kits, camp infrastructure improvements, and comprehensive medical services through its Turkish counterpart’s health centre. The newly established charity will now take on projects throughout England and Wales targeting Syrian refugees, including nursery provision for children and English language courses for adults to help overcome language and cultural barriers and enable easier integration into British society.

Dr Matine Rihaoui, a trustee of the charity, said: “We are incredibly pleased with the successful registration of New Dawn Organisation in the UK. This is a significant milestone, and we look forward to continuing our vital work supporting Syrian communities both in Syria and here in the UK, helping refugees integrate and build new lives whilst maintaining our humanitarian efforts for those still affected by the crisis.”

New Dawn Organisation will focus its efforts on Syria and Turkey, whilst developing projects throughout England and Wales to support Syrian refugees with integration services. Backed by a passionate team of trustees and funded through public donations, the organisation represents an important step towards providing long-term sustainable support and improving living standards for vulnerable communities affected by the Syrian crisis.

Partner, Khaled Moyeed said, “I spent part of my gap year in 2000 living in Damascus, learning Arabic and travelling across Syria. I am especially pleased to help register New Dawn Organisation which will help Syrian communities in the UK and beyond.
