gunnercooke one of only two law firms appointed to FCA risk panel

April 14, 2026

Global legal and professional services firm gunnercooke LLP is one of only two law firms to have been appointed to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Consultancy & Skilled Persons Framework for Risk/Risk Management.  The Framework is effective from 1 April 2026 for a period of four years, and gunnercooke is joined by 27 other suppliers on the Risk/Risk Management Lot.

Hayden Cooke, Chief of Staff, commented, “This is the first time that a fee-share law firm has ever been appointed to the Framework.  Our position is testament to gunnercooke’s ability to recruit both top-tier talent and utilise that talent to work collaboratively to win and deliver for large clients.  Our long-established non-legal division, gunnercooke Operating Partners, has worked seamlessly with our legal teams for over 15 years, enabling clients to benefit from a comprehensive range of professional services under one roof, and enabling the firm to achieve a unique competitive edge.  Our appointment to the panel is a demonstration of how that works in practice.”

Although this is gunnercooke’s first appointment to the Framework, its position as a market-leader in the area of risk is long established.

Mark Winters, Operating Partner and tender lead, commented, “gunnercooke is an entrepreneurial firm, and is willing to break the professional services mould where needed.  This entrepreneurial approach allowed us to establish, a focussed financial crime and broader risk management practice within the firm – bringing best-in-industry lawyers, financial services crime experts, accountants and risk experts under one product.  It was this team who worked on the tender and allowed us to achieve a ground-breaking result.  I believe our expertise in the area of risk is second to none.  The Framework position ensures we are in the best possible place to help the FCA, and the clients it regulates, in the face of growing demand on specialist or high-risk verticals including, but not limited to: gaming, crypto/digital assets, overseas and wider risk sectors.”

A number of gunnercooke Legal and Operating Partners, including Mark Winters, David McIntyre, Neil Marshall, Jennifer Horsfield, John Flynn, Binu Paul and others will be on hand to support the FCA and the clients it regulates during the four-year appointment.
