gunnercooke and its client 1st Idea have been named as finalists in the Regulation and Compliance category at this year’s Crypto AM Awards.

The shortlisted work is a collaboration between 1st Idea and gunnercooke Partner James Burnie FRSA, who used market data provided by CryptoCompare to create a taxonomy of cryptoassets using the Pi-AXIOM application built by 1st Idea to  define how they work. The project is the first of its kind as the only in-depth taxonomy dedicated to cryptoassets.

The Crypto AM Awards, hosted by City AM, take place on 30th September in London after the Crypto AM summit. The event celebrates innovation and excellence in the AI, blockchain, cryptocurrencies, digital assets and distributed ledger technology sectors.

1st Idea is a firm specialising in creating RegTech solutions, with a specialism in taxonomies. Last year CEO Wendy Harrison appeared as a guest on gunnercooke’s Crypto Cast series.

James Burnie commented: “It was fantastic to work with 1st Idea on this ambitious project, the first of its kind designed to help bring clarity to a complicated industry. We’re delighted to be recognised for the work at this year’s awards.”

Wendy Harrison, Director at 1st Idea added: “When creative minds come together, they can make the impossible possible. Working with James Burnie at gunnercooke has been an extraordinary journey merging the legal world with tech-world to achieve something incredible.  Bridging the gap between regulations and cryptoassets. Very pleased to be recognised at this year’s awards.”

James Burnie FRSA is an award-winning Financial Services & FinTech Partner at gunnercooke, advising financial institutions on all aspects of regulation. He is well known in the industry for his crypto and blockchain work and expert commentary. gunnercooke has a growing FinTech team of 15 partners.

The awards news follows the recent announcement of gunnercooke being shortlisted at the Business Culture Awards and The Lawyer Awards 2021.
