gunnercooke partner nominated for the ENDS Report Power List 2024
Dr Anna Willetts, a gunnercooke Environmental Crime Partner, has recently been nominated to appear of the Ends Report Power List. The list aims to highlight lawyers that have made a great impact in the sector over the past two years.
After completing her PhD in landfill engineering, Anna started her career as an Environmental Consultant, a role she worked in for five years. After seeing that the law on environmental matters in the waste industry was rapidly changing and that her clients were starting to require legal representation, she made the decision to become an environmental lawyer.
She now has a wide range of clients that she provides expert legal advice and representation for, using her scientific background to better understand the technical aspects of the law that plagues this practice.
Currently, she acts for many businesses in the waste and resources industry, but some recent high profile and technical cases may have led others she has worked in the industry to nominate her.
These cases have included a client being discharged from prosecution proceedings after a successful abuse of process argument in the Crown Court and overturning an illegal search warrant in the High Court.
Dr Anna Willetts added: “I was very excited to be nominated for the ENDS power list for the second year in a row. As a regulator contributor to journalist articles on waste and waste crime I know how well-respected and well-read the journal is so to nominated on its Power List again was fantastic.”
