Dr Heiko Plassmeier is an experienced disputes lawyer. He advises and acts for clients in disputes before state court as well as domestic and international arbitral tribunals in all areas of commercial law as well as in conflict of laws and international procedural law matters. He also acts as an arbitrator.

Heiko was educated at the Universities of Göttingen and Cambridge. The University of Göttingen awarded him a doctor’s degree in 1995 and the University of Cambridge awarded him an LL.M. degree in 1996.

He has over 25 years of professional experience and has been listed in “Best Lawyers in Germany” in the categories “Arbitration and Mediation” and “Litigation” since 2017.

  • Representing a German specialty chemicals company in a post-M&A arbitration under DIS rules,
  • Representing a German car manufacturer in over 100 legal disputes relating to the “Diesel scandal”,
  • Representing a French manufacturer of aircraft turbines in defence against claims of Air Berlin plc’s insolvency administrator for repayment of a down payment (inter alia based on insolvency contestation),
  • complex insolvency law disputes and
  • recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards.
