Kate is an experienced employment law solicitor. She trained and qualified at DLA Piper in 2000 and practised for 4 years before taking time out to raise her family and pursue interests outside of the law. Kate returned to the law in 2014. From 2016 she worked as an in-house legal assistant in a small manufacturing company before making the decision to return to employment law in 2020. Kate spent twelve months working as an employment paralegal before renewing her practicing certificate in November 2021.

Kate’s work covers a full range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters including contract and handbook reviews, disciplinary and dismissal issues, discrimination matters, HR support, Tribunal claims, and corporate support work. She works closely with gunnercooke partner Jo Tindall.

Kate’s wealth of experience in the workplace enables her to understand the requirements of clients from a business and personal perspective. Kate always ensures that she understands a client’s specific needs so that she can deliver concise, practical, and commercial legal advice.

  • Advising and assisting in securing a settlement of a highly contentious race discrimination claim against a charitable organisation, where potential negative publicity was a key concern.
  • Advising and representing a senior manager dismissed from a public sector organisation up to and including a successful outcome at tribunal.
  • Assisting and advising in a worker status claim concerning chat room hosts for a large commercial organisation up to and including a successful tribunal outcome.
