Construction, Engineering & Infrastructure

Expertise

Sophie qualified as a solicitor in 2006, and specialises in non-contentious construction law.

Sophie advises on all areas of non-contentious construction transactions.  Her clients are varied, and include all parties involved in construction deals including developers, contractors, consultants, sub-contractors, funders and end users such as tenants and purchasers.

Sophie drafts, reviews and negotiates building contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties, supply and services agreements, agreements for lease, funding agreements and all other associated documentation. She is familiar with various JCT and NEC contracts, and also works with bespoke forms and contract amendments.

An energetic and pragmatic lawyer, Sophie actively works with clients to manage and mitigate risks. She enjoys working as part of an extended project team, and works collaboratively where required to ‘get things built’.

With some prior experience in commercial property, Sophie uses this understanding to regularly assist real estate colleagues with due diligence exercises, advising on the construction aspects of a transaction.  She often reports on suites of collateral warranties offered on purchases, and advises on how to proceed when those suites fall short of commercial expectations.

Sophie also offers bespoke training for clients and their teams.
