Shilpen Savani, Dispute Resolution & Employment Law Partner, has announced an exciting partnership with the London School of Economics’ (LSE) newly launched Legal Advice Clinic.
This collaboration goes beyond the typical law clinic, representing a unique opportunity to provide pro bono assistance to members of the community while supporting the development of future legal professionals.
The clinic is part of the LawWorks Clinics Network, a prominent network of law clinics across the UK, with gunnercooke’s support involving employment law advice for people in need.
The Legal Advice Clinic, led by Diana Kirsch, operates through a simple and effective model:
- Members of the public approach the clinic for assistance with employment law problems.
- LSE law students are assigned to provide pro bono support, gaining practical experience in the process.
- Legal professionals volunteer to collaborate with the students, reviewing and refining their advice to ensure clients receive the highest standard of assistance.
The collaboration with LSE builds on a longstanding relationship with the university. Shilpen is an alumnus and has maintained close ties with the institution, and especially its Alumni Association, over the years.
The partnership also includes working alongside 42BR Barristers, a highly regarded barristers’ chambers. With over a dozen barristers already signed up to support the clinic, their involvement further strengthens the expertise and resources available to the project.
Shilpen added: “This partnership reflects gunnercooke’s commitment to activism, community service, and professional development and it offers a powerful opportunity to provide meaningful assistance to those in need of employment law support whilst simultaneously nurturing the next generation of legal talent.
“I’m proud to be spearheading this initiative at gunnercooke, and I look forward to working alongside other partners, barristers and the LSE Law School.”
