gunnercooke expands into California with privacy hire

International law firm gunnercooke has appointed Timothy Toohey as Partner, formally establishing the firm’s presence in California. This expansion extends gunnercooke’s US footprint from coast to coast, building on its New York headquarters, complemented by a well-established Chicago office. 

Toohey’s appointment marks a continuation of sustained growth for gunnercooke in the US. The firm has grown to 30 partners across the country, with plans to selectively add a number of partners before the end of the year. Toohey’s arrival will act as a launchpad for the firm on the West Coast.  

Toohey practised at Greenberg Glusker in Los Angeles, specialising in privacy, data security, cybersecurity and intellectual property for technology, media, entertainment clients. His experience includes acting in disputes involving a major motion picture franchise, including UK proceedings. He is certified as a privacy lawyer under both US and EU law, and studied at Berkeley Law, Harvard, Oxford University and Stanford.
