November 19, 2025

Antonello Leogrande, a Commercial Partner who is dual-qualified in both Italy and England & Wales, recently marked his first decade at gunnercooke.

Since joining the firm, Antonello has built and developed a multi-jurisdictional practice, using gunnercooke’s model to his advantage to connect with Partners from around the globe.

Reflecting on his professional journey, Antonello shares why he originally joined gunnercooke, how it helped him grow his practice, and why he compares the model to surfing.

What originally drew you to gunnercooke, and did being dual-qualified influence that decision?

I was drawn to the gunnercooke model due to the freedom, independence and flexibility the firm offers. I can work in a way that aligns with my personality and professional values, something I haven’t experienced at any other point in my career.

Being dual-qualified also influenced my decision; the opportunity to join an international firm where cross-border work is not only possible but encouraged was appealing.

How has the gunnercooke model supported you in building a cross-border practice?

The gunnercooke model has been instrumental in developing my cross-border practice. The firm brings together partners from a range of cultural and legal backgrounds, creating a diverse environment. This diversity provides me with opportunities to collaborate on international matters which has expanded my network.

How has gunnercooke changed you as a lawyer?

Since joining gunnercooke, I have strengthened my international business law expertise and broadened my cross-border capabilities. Working collaboratively with partners across different practices has enabled me to enhance the overall quality of the services I deliver.

If you could capture your journey at gunnercooke in one word or feeling, what would it be and why?

“Surfing.”
For me, gunnercooke provides the board that allows me to ride the waves, the inevitable challenges of professional life, while enjoying a true sense of freedom and flexibility.

What makes the culture at gunnercooke unique, in your view?

The culture is built around a fee-share model that fosters a genuine spirit of mutual benefit, it is embedded in the structure of the firm. Partners support one another because everyone succeeds by working together which creates an atmosphere of trust, reciprocity and shared growth.

When you think back to who you were when you first joined gunnercooke, how do you think you’ve changed?

Since joining the firm, I have become far more confident in handling international matters and in advising clients with cross-border needs.
