gunnercooke shortlisted at Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Awards

August 30, 2022

gunnercooke has been shortlisted in the ‘Business of Law: Challenging tradition models’ category at the FT Innovative Lawyer Europe Awards.

The firm has been recognised for being the first major UK law firm to officially accept payment in cryptoassets, a move which was announced earlier this year.

gunnercooke has built up one of the leading FinTech and Cryptoasset full-service practices with experts in the UK and Germany, including James Burnie FRSA and Wolfgang Richter. The team has a client base of over 100 cryptocurrency developers, platforms and exchanges.

James Burnie, who hosts the firm’s Crypto Cast podcast, comments: “We were delighted to announce this year that we are the first major UK law firm to officially accept cryptoasset payments. It’s vital we accept payment in this way for our clients and to show our commitment to this growing community.

“We’re therefore pleased that the Financial Times have recognised the importance of innovation in this sector and the impact of crypto on the wider legal industry.”

This will be the 58th award recognition for the firm, which won Law Firm of the Year at the Modern Law Awards 2022 and was listed in The Times Best Law Firms.

The FT Innovative Lawyer Europe Awards will take place at the Natural History Museum in London on 13th October.
