Our Sports law team comprises advisors with more than 20 years’ dedicated experience advising across a variety of sports law matters, both in private practice and during time as in-house counsel at leading sporting organisations such as Premier League football clubs. This ensures that we have a deep understanding of the commercial pressures facing sports organisations and can deliver both practical and strategic advice accordingly.
We advise on a wide range of commercial legal matters, from sports data exploitation, to media rights deals, sponsorships and virtual advertising (particularly in relation to gambling operators). We work closely with other areas of the gunnercooke practice, such as IP and media lawyers, to ensure that we provide a broad, partnership approach to our clients.
We’ve worked with industry leaders, from Premiership football clubs, to the NFL, UEFA, Football DataCo, ITF, The Football League, Premier Rugby, the British Darts Organisation and World Snooker.
In addition, our team has advised companies involved in the wider sports industry on a range of commercial agreements, particularly in relation to gambling. Clients include Interregional Sports Group (sports rights agency), Supponor (digital advertising replacement) and Ceefox Sports (sports advertising agency for Bet365).
