Robert is an Entertainment, Media and IP Partner.  A skilled and experienced IP lawyer, he offers services ranging from entertainment industry contract drafting and negotiation to copyright and IP dispute resolution. Robert also provides rights clearance reports, copyright and libel reading services.

He has a strong interest in the tech sector and has advised numerous start-up internet companies in sectors ranging from eBooks to fashion.

A professional creative himself, prior to qualifying as a lawyer, Robert was a professional scriptwriter, writing numerous episodes of ChuckleVision and the sitcom ‘Out of Tune’. He brings his experience as a creative professional in the entertainment industry to his legal practice and has a deep understanding of the needs of his clients in the entertainment sector.

Robert has a strong interest in defending copyright and creators’ rights and is currently the President of the Federation of Screenwriters in Europe.  An expert in copyright law, Robert holds the prestigious MA in US, EU and UK Copyright Law from King’s College London.

Robert was a founder of Writers’ Digital Payments Limited which applied the techniques of collective management to provide an innovative and efficient method of distributing payments to creators for the on-line use of their work. More than £3m revenue distributed to 2019. He is also co-creator and producer of  Monty & Co, a line action TV series for pre-school kids, series one of 34 x 11 minute episodes produced so far and for which he developed a unique funding model.

He is interested in developing consultancy work on a retainer basis that utilises his strategic thinking and leadership skills as well as legal advice.
