House of Books & Friends and gunnercooke win Third Sector Award for Corporate Partnership of the Year

September 24, 2024

House of Books & Friends has continued its recent streak of award wins by scooping the Third Sector Award for Corporate Partnership in collaboration with gunnercooke LLP and the gunnercooke foundation

Doubling as a community hub, providing a welcoming space for the local community, the bookshop also offers the gunnercooke foundation’s 125 partner charities free access to the historic event space, ensuring that it serves as a vibrant meeting point for social good.

By integrating this space into both business and community life, House of Books & Friends has strengthened gunnercooke’s presence in Manchester and furthered its mission to combat social isolation. All proceeds are directed toward the mission of alleviating loneliness, making the partnership an invaluable asset to the area.

Judges for the Third Sector Awards praised the initiative, saying that House of Books & Friends is “A superb partnership, having profound impact on local communities in Manchester. The company and charity work hand in glove to create a phenomenal community space with immense benefits for both the charity and the company.”

Laura Jones, Director of the House of Books and Friends added: “It’s a great honour to be recognised for the hard work we do across both the House of Books and Friends, gunnercooke and the gunnercooke foundation.

“It highlights how dedicated we are to the cause of tackling social isolation and loneliness, and it’s amazing to be helping to make a difference, but we know there is more work to do be done.

“We will continue to work closely with the local community and charities to ensure that, together, we are truly making a difference and leaving the world a better place than we found it.”
