gunnercooke advises Fig Markets on digital asset derivatives trading RFQ platform

June 5, 2026

Fig Markets, an FCA authorised brokerage established specifically for digital asset derivatives voice broking, has launched a dedicated RFQ platform designed to bring greater structure, transparency and efficiency to institutional digital asset derivatives markets. Through its voice broking model, trades are negotiated directly between professional counterparties within a regulated environment.

The platform enables professional traders to share market interest with potential counterparties in a structured, transparent and auditable manner, facilitating digital asset derivatives activity within a regulated environment.

Law firm gunnercooke advised Fig Markets on the regulatory and contractual framework underpinning the platform. The team was led by Financial Services & FinTech Partner James Burnie FRSA, assisted by Holly Joseph, Trainee Solicitor.

Steven Brodie, Founder of Fig Markets, commented:

“As institutional participation in digital asset derivatives continues to grow, market participants increasingly expect the same standards of workflow efficiency, transparency and regulatory robustness that exist in traditional financial markets.

Our RFQ platform is an important addition to our offering and reflects the continued evolution of institutional digital asset market infrastructure.

We were pleased to work with James Burnie and the gunnercooke team, who combined deep regulatory expertise with commercially pragmatic advice throughout the process. Their understanding of both securities and digital asset regulatory frameworks was instrumental in helping us deliver the platform within an appropriate regulatory structure.”

James Burnie FRSA, Partner at gunnercooke, commented:

“Digital asset derivatives markets are evolving rapidly, while regulated market infrastructure and communication standards are still developing. Advising on a platform of this nature for an FCA authorised digital asset derivatives broker was an important project, particularly given the growing institutional focus on transparency, auditability and regulated trading workflows in digital assets.

Fig Markets is helping develop infrastructure that more closely aligns digital asset derivatives trading with the standards expected in traditional financial markets.”
