gunnercooke advises Martin Property Group on its acquisition of NCP

November 2, 2026

gunnercooke has advised Martin Property Group (MPG) on its acquisition of National Car Parks (NCP), the UK’s most recognised car park brand. Real Estate Partner Mark Kingsley and Corporate and Commercial Partner Simon Williams led the transaction on behalf of MPG.

NCP operates 145 car parks across the UK and employs 276 people. The business faced a difficult period following the pandemic, and MPG acquired it from its joint administrators at PwC.

MPG is a family-owned property investment and development group based in Derry, with interests spanning hotels, retail, shopping centres, food, manufacturing and travel, with operations across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. The group already has significant experience of owning and operating car parks, both as standalone businesses and as part of its wider property portfolio and sees NCP as a natural fit.

Real Estate Partner Mark Kingsley and Corporate Partner Simon Williams led the gunnercooke team. Supporting the team was, Corporate Senior Associate Alex Connaugh, Paralegal Keira Golds, Restructuring & Insolvency Partner Andrew Tongue, Commercial Partner David Miller, Dispute Resolution Partner Sarah Armstrong, Commercial & IT Partner Sarah Purcell, Banking & Finance Partner Lynn Cantwell and Pensions Partner Ginevra Gatrell

Mark Kingsley commented: “This was a fantastic deal for a fantastic client made possible by my colleagues at gunnercooke. The team worked seamlessly and endlessly to deliver a first-class performance in a fast-moving and high-pressured environment. We are grateful for our client’s support and look forward to seeing what happens next”
