gunnercooke and Future Planet Capital Host International Panel on Impact Investment

September 22, 2023

The international law firm gunnercooke and the venture capital firm Future Planet Capital brought thought leaders and experts from around the world to London to explore the future of Impact Investment. They discussed the development of reforms and regulations, as well as the potential polarisation of views on climate change, ultimately concluding that the collaboration of industry stakeholders will be essential for the future of the sustainability landscape.

Bringing together representatives from banking, investment, sustainability, and ESG data management, attendees gained insights into: the sourcing and presentation of ESG data; the emerging roles of Crypto and Artificial Intelligence in ESG; regulatory measures against greenwashing; and guidance for businesses to create meaningful and impactful ESG strategies.

The panel featured Douglas Hansen-Luke, Executive Chairman of Future Planet Capital, a venture capital organisation with a strong focus on supporting innovative companies worldwide in their pursuit of positive impact. Alongside Douglas was Songül Arslan Strategic Account Manager & Business Development for CTC Pensions Technology.

The panel was completed by gunnercooke‘s international experts, including Sima Kanan (Funds & Asset Management Partner, UK), Dr. Wolfgang Richter (Managing Partner, Germany), Noreen Weiss (Chair, US), and Dr. Dirk Hamann (Partner, Germany).

Sima Kanan, partner at gunnercooke, shared her thoughts on the event: “Impact Investment is an area that will only become more and more central in the world of funds and business, thanks to Mansion House reforms, which include unlocking significant capital through further LGPS consolidation, fostering small business growth, enhancing ESG reporting transparency, and enforcing anti-greenwashing regulations. Being part of such a strong international team of gunnercooke financial services experts, I look forward to meeting future opportunities in the sustainable investment  landscape.”
