With over 25 years’ experience serving globally ranked clients, mainly from the field of Real Estate, Szabolcs has an innate talent for designing complex real estate deals and conducting effective risk management for institutional investors. He was trained at PwC and worked for CHSH in Vienna, later becoming a partner at CHSH Budapest. He was a permanent lecturer at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Szabolcs co-founded OPL (now OPL gunnercooke) in 2011. He was in the list of the TOP10 real estate lawyers in Hungary by the country’s leading business daily, portfolio.hu.

His flagship clients have been German real estate funds, international real estate developers and global real estate services firms.

Szabolcs deals with office, retail, hotel, logistics, industrial and residential investment and developments, strategic real estate advice to institutional investors, all forms of commercial leasing, and transaction management.

Szabolcs Advises

  • Advising German, Austrian, Swedish, Italian, and French real estate and pension funds on the acquisition, management, and disposal of multiple office buildings, hotels, logistic centres, and shopping malls, including legal support of asset management.
  • Legal advice to Hochtief Construction, Hochtief Development, Hochtief Airport, and Hochtief FM in various legal matters, advising on motorway, office, and other projects, and during the acquisition and development of Budapest Airport.
  • Advising Allianz on the acquisition of their new headquarters and the sale of three office buildings.
  • Advising DPD on the development of a regional logistics centre
  • Advising international real estate developers on multiple commercial developments, including site acquisition, construction contracts, lease agreements, and disposal.
  • Advising German funds on tax structuring, including VAT-free letting of office buildings to financial institutions
