The gunnercooke foundation member wins Project of the Year at the Business Charity Awards

May 18, 2021

gunnercooke is delighted to be celebrating a win alongside inspire* member HandsOn London at the Business Charity Awards 2021.

The Wrap Up London campaign has won Project of the Year at the awards ceremony, which took place virtually on 18th May.

The gunnercooke foundation worked with Hands on London to deliver its annual project, which delivers warm coats to those in needs over the winter period. 2020 brought the added challenge of Covid-19 restrictions and organising quarantine for each of the donated quotes. Despite this the project was a huge success and combined the work of 652 volunteers and 100 community groups to deliver over 20,907 coats.

Jon Meech, CEO of HandsOn London, commented: “We’d like to thank everyone at HandsOn London, the gunnercooke foundation and all our charity partners for helping us to deliver a huge amount of warm coats over winter!”

Sarah Goulbourne, gunnercooke Co-Founder and inspire* Hub Leader, added: “This project was a fantastic team effort, so we’d like to thank our gunnercooke partners and other volunteers who gave their time (and their coats) for this project. It’s an honour to be involved!”

The gunnercooke foundation aims to connect businesses with charities and not for profits through several projects including inspire*. Work includes supporting CEOs of charities to enhance their effectiveness, growing charity’s networks and services through peer support hubs, mentoring, workshops and 1-2-1 sessions to grow business techniques and strategies, as well as undertaking significant projects for its charities.

HandsOn London make it possible for individuals to give the amount of time they want, without a big commitment. They support homeless shelters, soup kitchens, food banks, elderly projects, children’s centres and environmental projects across London.

The Business Charity Awards are hosted by Third Sector Magazine and aim to recognise and reward the hard work of the third sector.
