As part of the UK’s “Plan for Growth” strategy within Global Business Mobility, Vitoria discusses the Expansion Worker Visa.
The visa is designed for management level and specialist employees who are being assigned to the UK to undertake work related to a business’ expansion in the UK. This could be a UK company with an overseas branch or an overseas company with no presence in the UK looking to expand. The visa is open to one person or a specialist team. Within this change is where the Representative of an Overseas Business visa, has been replaced.
In both instances the company will need a sponsor licence although for the company with no UK presence, will apply for their sponsor licence when applying for the expansion work visa.
In addition, restrictions for senior level shareholders to have a post in the UK has been removed, therefore allowing senior stakeholders of the overseas company to apply for an expansion worker visa.
