Real estate finance has been Daniel’s main practice area throughout his career.

Daniel’s team at gunnercooke has been assembled to provide a broad skillset offering of a best-in-class service principally advising lender clients on secured loan originations and recoveries, lender funding arrangements, operational structures, and processes, and the preparation of bespoke loan and security documentation.

The team has extensive experience in relation to the core and ancillary requirements of its clients. Its real estate finance practitioners are supported by specialists advising on:

  4. Insolvency, loan recovery, and related enforcement processes.

Daniel is an active member of lender and financial intermediary representative trade associations and serves on the Executive Council of the Financial Intermediary & Broker Association (FIBA).

Career History

Previous Law Firms 

  • 1986 to 1991: Brand Montague & Co: Articled clerk, Solicitor, and Partner specialising in property finance.
  • 1992 to April 2014: CKFT: Founding and Managing Partner with a real estate finance practice focus.
  • May 2014 to April 2021: Howard Kennedy LLP (post-merger with CKFT): Partner and founder of its Banking and Real Estate Finance team.

  • Daniel is an active member of lender and financial intermediary representative trade associations and serves on the Executive Council of the Financial Intermediary & Broker Association (FIBA).
